Author Spotlight with TL Clark

Happy Thursday, everyone! Today we will be getting to know a bit more about TL Clark!

Interview

What genre do you write in?
Romance, across a few sub genres, as each book looks at love from a different angle.

What has been your favorite work to date?
Always my last one, as life is a continuous journey of learning.
My last book was actually a duology. Love Bites delves into a fantastical world. I love my main character for her independent heroism, and her feisty faery friend.

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
My spirit animal lately seems to be a cat. Ironically (if you read the Darkness & Light Duology), it signifies balancing togetherness and independence, light and dark. Exploring the unknown.

What is the first book that made you cry?
Charlotte’s Web. My teacher read it to us when I was in junior school. I think most of the class was in tears. To this day, “You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing,” still has me welling up.

Do you try to be more original, or to deliver to readers what they want?
Yes, no. Both, neither.
I write my books as they come to me. I hope they are what others will enjoy, whilst appreciating I am rather unconventional.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
Really getting inside their head, knowing what the other sex truly thinks/feels. Happily, my hubby is a reliable source of information.

Do you listen to music while you write or do you need silence? If you listen to music, what do you listen to?
It depends on my mood, and what I’m writing. I created a dance tunes playlist for my book Love Bites, which I’ve shared with my followers. Whilst writing Love Bites, I listened to a lot of Enya; she really helped set the magickal mood.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?
My energy ebbs and flows. I get all fired up as inspiration strikes, and will happily write until my eyes can no longer stay open. It can leave me feeling exhausted, but happy. Hmm…just like… (*coughs*)

What do you do to get inspired?
Sleep! No, honestly, I do. A lot of my books come to me in that place between asleep and awake.
